How have you seen Love Conquer Fear?

How have you seen love conquer fear?

Oh my goodness, how have I seen love conquer fear?

At its most basic, a mother wolf who loves her cubs will take on a grizzly to defend them. But love conquering fear isn’t just about love for others; I believe it’s also about love for yourself.

If you want to prosper in life—if you want a certain job that requires passing a difficult test—you push through fear because you love yourself. You work hard so you can succeed. That kind of self-love helps you overcome fear.

Maybe you want to talk to someone you’re interested in, but you're afraid of rejection. Then you remind yourself, I am valuable. I love who I am. I know what I want.” Heck, maybe you even love that person. That love can help you overcome the fear of rejection. But so many people turtle their game, retreating into their shell instead of taking a chance. As Shakespeare said, “Nothing ventured, nothing gained.”

Think about soldiers. They experience fear all the time, but their love for their fellow soldiers, their country, and their mission helps them push forward. Or consider a first responder who rushes into a burning building to save a child. Are they afraid? Absolutely. But their love for life, their love for others, propels them into danger to pull someone from the grip of death.

That’s love conquering fear—even when it’s for a stranger. To me, that’s an exciting prospect, and it’s something I’ve believed in for a long, long time.
